Talassio, Talassius, Thalassius
Talassio, Talassius, Thalassius
A primitive Sabine deity invoked in the priestly books (indigitamenta) as the god of marriage. Varro regarded the noun as derived from τάλαρος, a wool-basket, as symbolizing the household work most typical of the Roman matron ( Quaest. Rom. 31). See matrimonium, p. 1016.
