Galaxius
Gala'xius
(Γαλάξιος), a surname of Apollo in Boeotia, derived from the stream Galaxius. (Procl. apud Phot. p. 989; Müller, Orchom. p. 42, 2d edit.) [L.S]
Galaxius
(Γαλάξιος). A small river in Boeotia, near which stood the temple of Apollo Galaxius. The name is derived from the fact that its waters were of the colour of milk (γάλα), due to the chalky nature of the soil.
