Hydai
Hydai — Hydai (Caria), Pleiades 599651
HYDAI or Kydai (Damlıboğaz) Turkey.
In Caria, 7 km W of Milâs, in the valley of the Sariçay, the ancient Kybersos. The city appears in the Athenian tribute lists, with a normal tribute of only one-fifteenth of a talent, but reassessed at one-third in 425 B.C. Later Hydai was united in a sympolity with Mylasa. A handmade jug found there is dated to the 3d millennium. The extant remains consist only of a ruined circuit wall, a few plain rock tombs, and on the plain below a collapsed building which has been thought to be the Temple of Apollo and Artemis, the principal deities of the city.
