Mandane
Mandane
(Μανδάνη), the daughter of Astyages, and mother of Cyrus. [Cyrus.]. (Hdt. 1.107; Xenoph. Cyrop. 1.2, 3, 4.) [P.S]
MANDANE
MANDANE (Μανδάνη), a town on the coast of Cilicia, between Celenderis, and Cape Pisidium, from which it was only 7 stadia distant (Stadiasm. §§ 174, 175.) It is probably the same place as the Myanda or Mysanda in Pliny (Plin. Nat. 5.27); and if so, it must also be identical with the town of Myus (Μυούς) mentioned by Scylax (p. 40) between Nagidus and Celenderis.
[L.S]Mandāné
The mother of Cyrus the Great of Persia. See Cyrus.
