Morychus
Mo'rychus
(Μόρυχος), a tragic poet, a contemporary of Aristophanes, noted especially for his gluttony and effeminacy. (Aristoph. Ach. 887, Vesp. 504, 1137, Pax, 1008, with the note of the scholiast.) There was a proverb: Μορύχου εὐηθέστερος, More foolish than Morychus; but whether it had reference to the tragic poet of that name, or not, we do not know. (Fabric. Bibl. Graec. vol. ii. p. 311; Bode, Gesch. der Hellen. Dichtkunst, vol. iii. part i. p. 548.) [C.P.M]
