Saint-Roman-le-Puy

SAINT-ROMAN-LE-PUY Loire, France.

A settlement (walls, stone floors) has been located on the Chézieu site. To judge from the abundant material found there (pottery, fibulas, coins), it was inhabited from Iron Age III to the second half of the 2d c. A.D. Nearby are houses with mosaic floors (a mosaic of fish and inscriptions was discovered in the 19th c.). Among the houses is a pit that has yielded various kinds of pottery (sigillata, white, everyday ware), some 2d-c. coins, and a bracelet of pendant coins, one of them dating from the end of the Republic.
