thickish: expr. by compar. of adj. (L. Gr. § 351), esp. with paullo: cf. Cic. de Or. 1, 60, 255: Hor. S. 1, 3, 29 and 63. Succrassus and subdensus are agreeable to analogy, but are not found. Subcrassulus, however, occurs in Capitol. Gord. 6, 1. A t. voice is subsurda vox, Quint. 11, 3, 32 (al. non surda). Suppinguis in Cels. 6, 4, is applied to a diseased skin: "densa cutis et s."
