ἀγριαίνω, fut. ανῶ Pl. R. 501e: aor. ἠγρίᾱνα D.C. 44.47, Ael. VH 2.13:—Pass., D.H. 9.32, Plu. Ant. 58: fut. ἀγριανθήσομαι LXX Da. 11.11: aor. ἠγριάνθην D.S. 24.1.—In Att. the Pass. was supplied by ἀγριόω (q. v.), which was rare in Act.; but the compd. Pass. ἐξαγριαίνομαι occurs in Pl. R. 336d, and the Act. ἐξαγριόω in Hdt. 6.123, E. Ph. 876, Pl. Lg. 935a.

ἀγριαίνω [ἄγριος] act. en med. boos worden, woest worden: ἡμεροῦταί τε καὶ ἀγριαίνει (door welk geluid) het rustig wordt of wild wordt Plat. Resp. 493b; tekeergaan, met dat.: σαυτῷ τε καὶ τοῖς ἄλλοις ἀγριαινεῖς jij gaat tekeer tegen jezelf en tegen de anderen Plat. Smp. 173d; ἀγριαίνων ὁ ποταμός de rivier ging wild tekeer Plut. Caes. 38.4.
