τριβώλετερ

τρῑβώλετερ, obscure word found only in Alc. 38: cited by Heph. 11.3, who attests its metrical form (--⏑⏑), and by Choerob. in Theod. 1.262 H., al., who says it is an Aeol. voc., proparox., and means εἶδος ἀκάνθης: the quantity is against Bergkʼs derivation from *τρῐβολολετηρ ‘caltrop-devourer’. [τριβωλ- codd. Heph., τριβολ-, τρεβολ-, and τριβαλ- codd. Choerob.]
