σχοῖνος, ὁ, bei Sp., etwa von Theophr. an auch ἡ, die Binse, Schmeele ; auch ein mit Binsen bewachsener Ort, ein Binsicht, ὁ δʼ ἐκ ποταμοῖο λιασθεὶς σχοίνῳ ὑπεκλίθη, Od. 5.463 ; Pind. Ol. 6.54 ; σχοίνων στιβάς, Ar. Plut. 541 ; – ὁ u. ἡ, alles aus Binsen Geflochtene, bes. Strick, Seil, Körbe u. Matten, die aus Binsen geflochten zu werden pflegten, und übh.
