μαμμᾶν
μαμμᾶν, (αἰτεῖν) to cry for the breast, to suck the breast
μαμμᾶν αἰτεῖν,
- cry for food, of children, Ar. Nu. 1383. (Expld. by Sch. Pl. Alc. 1.118e and Phot. as Arg. = eat, cf. Call.Com. 29; but more prob. from μάμμη II, cry for the breast.)
μαμμᾶν, αἰτεῖν, zu essen fordern, Ar. Nub. 1383, ist wohl ein inf. von μαμμάω, eigtl. von kleinen Kindern, nach der Mutterbrust verlangen, wofür auch das bei Ar. darauf folgende κακκᾶν φράσαι spricht. Vgl. auch μαμμιάω. Phot. sagt μαμμάω sei argivisch = ἐσθίω.
