  • Poet. Verb, also used in Arc., IG 5(2).16 (Tegea, iii B.C.), cf. Κλειτορίων . . λεύσει· ὁρᾷ AB 1096:—look or gaze upon, see, c. acc., Il. 1.120, al., Pi. P. 4.145: c. Part., πυρπολέοντας ἐλεύσσομεν Od. 10.30; of the gods, ὁ εἰσαιὲν ὁρῶν κύκλος λεύσσει νιν Διός S. OC 705 (lyr.); λεύσσετε . . οἷα πάσχω Id. Ant. 940 (anap.); used by Com. in mock Trag. phrases, Ar.
